2023 Annual Report

Schools of public health exist to ensure that the lives of individuals are enriched, that we prevent disease, and we promote health. We also have a responsibility for those of us who live in and serve regions where mortality and morbidity from disease burden is in excess to ensure that we reverse those trends.

The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees as well as a general preventive medicine residency program, which empower aspiring public health professionals to nurture their passion, contribute to meaningful change and evolve into leaders who foster positive health outcomes for communities at local, national and global levels.

The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health is dedicated to addressing challenges, enhancing education and advancing access to public health. In a world of ever-evolving technologies, there is an ongoing need to promote community-centric collaborations that are tailored to individual needs and reflect the lived experiences of surrounding communities.

Research teams in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego are addressing key public health challenges using methods that promote resilience and health equity.
